The fourth parade of pride of LGBTIQ individuals Montenegro Pride was held today under the motto of “Support – a Family Value”. The Pride went by without incidents. NGO Queer Montenegro that organized the Pride said that one of the main issues LGBITIQ individuals face today is lack of acceptance, support and understanding within their families. They said that the support of their families is the most important to them.

 

The Pride went through Njegoseva street, by the Higher Court and returned to the gathering place and a starting point – Sveti Petar Cetinjski Boulevard. Kalezić thanked MUP for their continued support.

 

CdM journalist reported strong police presence. The Pride began with a speech by Danijel Kalezić, who said that they would be able to have normal relations only when their families start supporting them. Minister Mehmet Zenka agreed with him and congratulated the organizers on their courage.

“With this Pride we ask for the support of those who mean the most to us – our mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters“, Kalezić said.

 

 

President of LP Andrija Popović was present at the Pride, along with former vice prime minister Azra Jasavić, Minister for Human and Minority Rights Mehmet Zenka, Minister of Culture Janko Ljumović, US Ambassador Margaret Uehara.

“We believe that traditional family value in Montenegrin society is the support the family provides to all its members regardless of their gender or sexual orientation”, the organizers said.
