The quality and the pace of carrying out highway works are really good and in line with the agreement, says the Monteput director, Jonuz Mujevic. He expects that the priority highway section will be completed within the term. The Chinese CRBC company, as the main contractor, plans to drill all tunnels this year and finish parts of bridges and most of embankments and cuttings at the priority section.

A special unit has been established within the Monteput and it is in charge of managing construction of the Smokovac-Uvac-Matesevo priority section.

Cooperation between Monteput and CRBC is correct, as part of a contractual relationship, says Mujevic, adding that, as in every construction site, there are certain problems that are solved in daily communication.

CRBC says that the drilling of all 16 tunnels is in the final stage.

The Chinese company also says that 70 subcontractors are currently engaged, of which about 85 per cent are Montenegrin companies.

“We are pleased with their performance and professional attitude to work,” CRBC says.

The construction of the priority section, 41 kilometres of highway, should be completed in May 2019 and will cost €809m.

A doubled number of employed workers in the last 12 months is a clear indication of the increase in the volume of work, CRBC says and adds that the company plans to increase the number of Chinese and local workers, depending on the needs of the site and the volume of works.
