About 60% of fathers fail to support children for more than two years, which has a negative impact on their lives, according to data from six NGOs. They presented the data to the United Nations Committee on Elimination of Discrimination against Women, Dan reports.

The shadow report on the implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women in Montenegro states that women are still discriminated, unequal with men, as well as insufficiently employed and represented in political and public life. It is added that the state fails to provide physical protection in domestic violence cases.

The analysis drafted by the Women’s Rights Centre, Women’s Safe House, SOS Hotline for women and children victims of violence – Niksic, NGO Centre for Roma Initiatives, NGO Spektra, NGO Queer Montenegro and NGO Juventas says that the measures the state undertook to adopt and implement laws aimed at preventing discrimination on gender and sexual orientation have been insufficient and that the conducted campaigns have not truly affected the public awareness.
