Adriatic Marinas and Damen bought a part of shipyard’s infrastructure

The consortium consisting of the renowned shipbuilding company Damen from the Netherlands and Adriatic Marinas, which operates Porto Montenegro, purchased a part of the infrastructure of the Adriatic Shipyard in Bijela, prime minister Dusko Markovic announced.

“The procedure has been completed in the Commercial Court these days. The final negotiations on the tender for concession are ongoing, which should ensure the start of the operation of a new company for yachts overhaul and construction,” Markovic said during his visit to Porto Montenegro.

According to government’s statement, Markovic said it was an investment expected to reach about €20m in the next three years and provide new jobs.

The consortium previously showed interest in obtaining a concession for using the shipyard for 30 years.

That is fenced area of a shipyard with operational shores and gates of 108 square metres in total. The area under the buildings covers slightly more than 25,000 square meters.

Two years ago, a bankruptcy was introduced in the shipyard upon the proposal of the Tax Administration because of the €6m debt. The shipyard continued to work, in order to finish the tasks it already started  and settle the creditors’ claims by selling the property. Since there was no statement of intention to reorganise the company, the court conducted full bankruptcy procedure.

The first partial disbursement was carried out a year ago. Then the first and second priority creditors were paid (€4.4m and €1.7m respectively). In addition, €4.2m was paid to settle claims of third level priority creditors.
