The 21. Maj Civic Initiative has called on the Government of Montenegro to immediately join the countries that will receive refugees from Afghanistan.
“In recent years, the state and the Army of Montenegro have contributed to peace and the stabilization of democracy in Afghanistan, so the people there who are in need of urgent emigration should be seen exclusively as allies. Their lives are in danger today only because they were committed to working with our allies and building a modern and stable Afghanistan based on the rule of law and respect for human rights”, says the joint statement of the executive coordinator Ljubomir Filipovic, international relations coordinator Vladimir Sibalic, and the Initiative’s Human Rights Coordinator Aleksandar Sasa Zekovic.
The Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are required to immediately start appropriate negotiations with the administration of US President Joe Biden and emphasize that this is an opportunity to show the alliance and friendship of Montenegro, which is in the interest of Montenegrin citizens.
