Agency for Electronic Media: contract is definitely disputable

The contract signed between the Public Broadcasting Service of Montenegro and the Center for Civic Education has not been defined very well in specific segments and it might influence the professionalism and independence of this media house, states the Agency for Electronic Media.

The Director of the Agency, Abaz Beli Džafić, says that they came to this conclusion by requesting to read the provisions of the contract. He also says that they will also request to see the annex to the contract.

„I’ve been doing this job for many years, and, so far, I haven’t had a chance to see a contract like that one. We’ve reacted ex officio, we requested and we got the problematic contract, and we did the analysis, in accordance with  our competences“, said Džafić.

He points out that two articles of the contract may be debatable.

„We’ve estimated that these two articles haven’t been defined properly and accurately, and therefore, different interpretations of them are allowed, which might bring into question professionalism and independence of the Public Service. Having done detailed analysis, we can now say that this contract is definitely arguable“ said Džafić.
