Americans shot a horror movie on Durmitor

Believe it or not, American horror movie “The Forest”, released last year, was filmed at Durmitor.

During the three-minute trailer, more precisely at 00:34, you can see a frame at the top of the Medjed above the Black Lake.

Since the plot of the film is related to the murders of Aokigaharu in Japan, where the filming of this movie is forbidden, the crew decided to make scenes from the forest on the Tara mountain in Serbia, which is also written on the official Wikipedia page.

However, the film crew certainly moved to Durmitor because the similarities are incredible. See it for yourself.

The Forest is a 2016 American supernatural horror film directed by Jason Zada and written by Ben Ketai, Nick Antosca, and Sarah Cornwell. Starring Natalie Dormer and Taylor Kinney, it follows a young woman who travels to Aokigahara (the suicide forest) to find her sister.

The film, released on January 8, 2016, in the United States by Gramercy Pictures, was negatively received by critics but was a box office success, grossing $37.6 million against a reported budget of $10m.
