Banks may not charge fees for postponing loan repayments

Žugić

According to preliminary data of the Central Bank of Montenegro, more than 40,000 loan beneficiaries applied for the moratorium on loan repayments, the CBCG’s governor, Mr Radoje Žugić, tells in an interview for Bankar.me

He explains that the CBCG will have first precise data after the first report of banks is prepared and submitted no later than the 15th day of every month for the previous one.

Governor Žugić continues: “A bank may not require or charge a loan beneficiary any administrative costs related to the use of the moratorium, including costs of any annexation to the collateral agreement. This implies that a bank may not require a loan beneficiary to bear any additional fees related to an extension of a collateral agreement or insurance policy that secures the life of a loan beneficiary or pledged collateral.”
