Becic proposed same-day local elections in 18 municipalities

Aleksa Bečić

Local elections in 17 Montenegrin municipalities should be held during the 2022 spring on the same day. For this reason, it may happen that the Municipality of Tuzi will have early elections since the tenure of its local assembly ends in 2023. This is the conclusion of the proposal for the Law amending the Law on Local Self-Government that Dan daily had the insight into.

The law was proposed by the Parliament’s Speaker and the Leader of the Democrats, Aleksa Becic.

The proposal suggests that Montenegro’s head of state should call for the first next elections for councilors in the Cetinje assembly and assemblies in the municipalities of Mojkovac, Petnjica, Ulcinj and Berane, in parallel with the regular election for councilors in the capital’s municipal assembly, Golubovci municipal assembly, municipalities within the main city and municipal assemblies in Bar, Bijelo Polje, Danilovgrad, Kolasin, Plav, Pluzine, Pljevlja, Rozaje, Zabljak and Savnik.
