Bošković: Space for causing instability in the territories of former Yugoslavia is becoming narrow

As one by one WB state is entering NATO, security situation of the region is becoming more and more relaxed, said Minister of  Defense, Predrag Bošković in the interview for Macedonian 1TV. He pointed out that this way, the space of radical warfare elements in the territory of former Yugoslavia was becoming more and more narrow.

He hopes that this process will continue.

“Montenegro and Macedonia, being two small states at the Western Balkans, which has been so turbulent over the centuries and not only in the last two decades, tackle so many questions by entering NATO”, said Minister Bošković.

“Very good news” for the entire region is the fact that the Republic of North Macedonia is on a good way of becoming full NATO member. It will have significant economic benefits, just like Montenegro has.

“We recorded an increase of FDI from NATO Member States by over 250%. Also, income in tourism significantly increased after we acceded NATO”, said Bošković.

He said that NATO accession was just the beginning of the process.

“Intense modernization process is just about to begin. It will focus firstly on armed forces, entire safety sector and, therefore, full interoperability of Macedonian armed forces with NATO”, said Bošković whilst adding that Montenegro is ready and willing to share its experience.

Answering the question  how WB states’ NATO membership will impact the resolution of  Kosovo and Serbian problem, Bošković said it would have positive impact. He hopes that the dialogue between Belgrade and Priština will continue in positive direction.
