Bottled water production grows, but export drops

Water factories in Montenegro produced a total of 29.8 million single-serving (1 liter) bottled water last year, which is by 3.2 million liters more compared to 2018, suggest the official data of the Waters Administration. It is encouraging that in 2019, 28.7 million liters of bottled water were sold, or over 96% of the total production. However, the worrying fact is that the export of bottled water amounted to only 797.676 liters, compared to 2018 when 975.380 liters were exported, reports Dnevne Novine daily.

WATER GROUP IS THE LEADER

There are currently seven water factories in Montenegro, and the largest production so far has been done by the Kolašin-based factory “Water Group” from the source “Bukovička vrela”. It produced 11 million liters of water, which represents 37.1% of the total production.

Then follows ‘Aqua Bianca’ from Kolašin, producing a total of 6 million liters, i.e. which makes up 20.3% of the total production. In 2019, ‘Eko-Per’ from Šavnik produced 4.4 million liters, i.e. 14.8% of the total production of bottled water.

NINETY-SIX PERCENT OF PRODUCED WATER SOLD

“Water factories managed to sell 28.7 million liters of water last year, which makes up 96% of the total production. It is by 5.7 million liters more than in 2018, when 23 million liters were sold,” says the report adopted by the government on Thursday.

EXPORT IS BEING HANDLED BY THE EKO-PER COMPANY

The worrying fact is that the export of bottled water in 2019 dropped to 797.676 liters. The data we present here show that the export is being handled by ‘Eko-Per’ from Šavnik, which exported 725.129 liters of water from the water source ‘Veliki Maljen’, and 42.331 liters of water from the water source ‘Gusarevci’.

‘Gorska’ water factory from Kolašin exported 20.736 liters of bottled water, while ‘Aqua Bianca’ exported 9.479 liters.
