Brajović: Elections will take place in peaceful and orderly manner

Parliamentary elections will be held this year and I believe they will be the major topic. In my opinion, elections will take place in a peaceful and orderly manner, the Montenegrin parliament speaker and leader of the Social Democrtas, SD, Mr Ivan Brajović, told Dan daily.

He also reflected on 2019, stating that it was a successful year for MNE in many aspects.

“It’s true it was pretty dynamic in terms of politics, but I believe we can be satisfied with what was achieved. This year, just as was the case in previous years, we were working hard to meet all the necessary criteria and standards that would bring us closer to our key foreign-political goal, i.e. the EU membership.”

In addition, Mr Brajović touched on the never-larger investment cycle in the area of education and massive investment in the health sector.

He continued: “I also think it’s significant to mention the increase in the minimum income which certainly implies the increase in minimum pensions. When it comes to my expectations for the political stage in MNE in 2020, the first thing I expect and what I hope for, is to preserve peace and stability despite tensions spurred by the adoption of the religious freedom law.”

The 2020 budget increase

The 2020 state budget allocates far more funds for education, health care system, as well as for agriculture, science, culture, sports and the young, according to Brajović.

“Therefore, one might make a conclusion that it’s about the budget completely directed towards developments, so this year is going to be even better than 2019.”
