Canada will continue to follow Montenegro’s EU journey

President of Montenegro, Mr Milo Đukanović, talked on the phone with the Ambassador of Canada, Ms Kati Csaba, on the occasion of the completion of her term of office.

She thanked President for his time and expressed regret that she couldn’t pay farewell visit, due to aggravated coronavirus pandemic.

President praised Ambassador’s role in the development of Montenegro-Canada relations, countries which share common values and strong commitment to multilateralism and trans-Atlantic union.

President also expressed his satisfaction with the relations in the political plane, reminding of the meetings with PM Trudeau and governor general, Ms Payette.

He thanked ambassador of Canada for the aid it provided to Red Cross of Montenegro at the very beginning of the pandemic.

Mr Đukanović hailed successful cooperation in the area of defense and emphasized the importance of Canadian investments in Montenegro and successful implementation of Porto Montenegro project, which contributed to positioning Montenegro as elite tourist-yachting destination and served as positive example for attracting new investments in tourism and energy sector.

Ms Csaba expressed her satisfaction with the fact that Canada aided Montenegro in countering global pandemic and pointed out they were carefully following the situation in Montenegro.

She praised interstate relations, especially through partnership with NATO.

In the context of further development of economic relations, ambassador said she believed in further progress of economic ties and implementation of projects similar to Porto Montenegro.

Ms Csaba congratulated the president on actions that followed parliamentary elections.

“Canada will continue to follow Montenegro’s EU path”, ambassador said.
