Central Bank of Montenegro will recruit an auditor

Central Bank of Montenegro is planning to recruit an independent, internationally recognized external auditor. This will be done in cooperation with the EU Delegation and the auditor will be in charge of analyzing and assessing the quality of business processes and procedures, particularly in the segment of supervision, that is, control of banks.

Having regard to the fact that maintenance of credibility is one of the fundamental objectives of the CB, and certain negative occurrences that could have affected the banking sector, the audit will be focused on the supervision process.

The CB, ever since it was founded, has had the established system of internal audit and that its annual financial statements are the subject of regular controls of an independent, internationally recognized external auditor, in accordance with the Law on Central Bank of Montenegro.

“Currently, audit of the annual financial statements for 2018 is being carried out. It entails the audit of the data contained in all financial operations and payment transactions system. In all the statements so far, the auditor gave positive opinion, and it has been emphasized that the financial indicators offer true and fair picture of the financial situation”, said the representatives of the CB.
