It is certain that construction of the priority highway section will be in delay, as Chinese have already made request for the extension of deadline and additional payments, said director of the business unit for management of the highway construction project, Mr Goran Vujović.
In the morning program on TVCG, Mr Vujović said that coronavirus pandemic “couldn’t have been predicted”.
“The contract knows the clause of “force majeure”. Chinese contractor has already made a request for extension of deadline and additional payments, citing reasons they find legitimate”, Mr Vujović said.
He says that competent authority will evaluate the justification of the request.
Mr Vujović says works on the highway have slowed down.
“Due to the present situation, we will definitely have the completion deadline extended”, Mr Vujović said.
So far, around 88% of works have been completed. Tunnels are almost finished. Eighteen out of twenty bridges on the principal route have been connected.
