Communication is key to good interpersonal relations

On the occasion of the Greek Language Day, Ambassador of the Republic of Greece to Montenegro, Panagiotis Parcos, yesterday visited the elementary school ‘Maskim Gorki’ in Podgorica that offers free Greek course for adult learners.

It’s about the program lasting for 18 years already, which enables the citizens of Montenegro to learn Greek and get to know more about the Greek culture.

Ambassador Parcos thanked the learners for their great interest and reflected on the significance of a language and communication for the development of good interpersonal relations.

“The language is something that is evolving, something that lives on and you are contributing to it just because you are here and have been attending Greek for so many years. Each language has two sides that we can divide by its geographical orientation, and the other side implies how prevalent that language is in the countries worldwide,” he noted.

He underlined the importance of communication development, especially having in mind that Montenegro is taking part in the European integration process. Ambassador Parcos also said many Montenegro people work in Greek companies and stressed that by entering the EU, Montenegro’s need for communication with other nations will be even greater.

He continued: “There’s a special connection between Montenegrins and Greeks, because we have been historically connected for many years. I think that’s one advantage when it comes to our nations. In a few years, Greece will not be as far from Montenegro as it is now, as road infrastructure will be built very soon thus bringing us closer, and there will be an increase in the number of flights and routes.”
