Constitutional Court to react on counterfeits, Mitrić says

Blagota Mitrić

Blagota Mitrić, a constitutional law professor and former president of the Constitutional Court, in his interview with Pobjeda told a presidential candidate, once confirmed by the State Election Commission (DIK), is eligible to run a presidential race and participate in the elections. In case one does not support such a decision, he/she may submit a constitutional appeal, and the Constitutional Court is to adopt an appeal or modify the DIK’s decision.

The State Election Commission (DIK) on Monday launched the application potpisi.dik.co.me, which enables citizens to check whom they have supported as a presidential candidate by typing a unique personal identification number. It turned out that signatures of numerous citizens, some of whom were MPs and journalists, were counterfeited.

Social media keeps reporting about new cases of counterfeited signatures. “In my opinion, presidential candidacies become valid and legal once the DIK approves them. The Constitutional Court is the only body which may annul revealed counterfeited signatures,” concluded Mitrić.
