Đenero: Serbia wants to repeat the Log Revolution in Montenegro

Davor Đenero

It’s been very turbulent in Montenegro these days. Gatherings of the members of the Serbian Orthodox Church, attacks on police, opposition leaders calling for chaos… Prime Minister’s address tot he public is the proof that everything has gone too far.

Croatian analyst, Mr Davor Đenero, says that Croatia sees developments in Montenegro as Serbia’s attempt to repeat the pattern of the Log revolution in Croatia through Serbian Orthodox Church as its state agency.

“Croatian public has just some marginal information on the processes in Montenegro. Little is known about the Law on Freedom of Religion and professional public is on the side of the Montenegrin Parliament and the Government. Croatian media scorn behavior of Mr Aleksandar Vučić, who terrorized citizens by curfew and then, all of a sudden, decided to organize pre-election protests in front f the Parliament”, Mr Đenero says.

In his opinion, only after conflicts became more intense, Croatian media started writing about him.

“It is a very unique assessment hat Serbia is trying to repeat the 1990 log revolution in Croatia. Media clearly define the position of those who call for disobedience of the government and leader of the key pro-Serbian party is defined as the Chetnik duke”, analyst points out.

He says that Serbian Orthodox Church reacted first to the affairs in Croatia.

“Metropolitan Porfitije Perić’s statement that Montenegrin authorities resort to terror over SOC has no meaning in Croatia. Of course, nobody in Croatia will stand up and warn Mr Perić that his job is to take care of the spirituality of his congregation and not arbiter in some political conflicts one country provokes in the territory of the other”, Mr Đenero concluded.
