Diaspora needs favorable investment environment

We have to keep working intensely on the creation of favorable business environment and elimination of business barriers so that our emigrants could invest their capital into their homeland and promote it worldwide as important investment destination, said president of the Municipality of Bar, Mr Dušan Raičević, during panel discussion “Investment potentials and business zones of Montenegro”, which was organized as part of the “Days of Diaspora” event.

According to him, the Municipality of Bar has devoted considerable effort in the improvement of the local business environment, primarily through formation of the Development Secretariat and Economy Secretariat, but also through strengthening cooperation with the Association of Businessmen and Association of Emigrants across the world, all with the aim of creating new products and new jobs.

Mr Raičevič pointed out that such meetings were great opportunity for opening dialogues in order to point out all the potentials Bar has.

“Bar is a port town with considerable potentials for coastal economy. We should not forget about the possibilities for investments in the agricultural sector and energy sector, through the valorization of renewable energy sources”, pointed out Mr Raičević.

Mr Raičević added that Montenegro needed its emigrants. Thanks to their experience, they might find solutions for the problems we are facing.

“I will take this opportunity to thank all of you for the active participation and useful discussions. I am sure we will intensify our communication in order to improve living conditions so that you can feel more comfortable one day, when you decide to come back”, concluded Mr Raičević.

Participants of the round table were representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism, Investment and Development Fund, Agency for the Promotion of Foreign Investments, Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro, National Tourist Organization, Association of Businessmen of Bar, as well as several prominent Diaspora members.

Director of Diaspora Administration, Mr Predrag Mitrović, said in his address that investment in homeland was the highest level of patriotism.

“However, apart from the emotional bond, we are aware that there has to be interest and that’s why we are constantly working on adjusting market conditions and creating favorable environment”.

Ms Željka Radak Kukavičić, Director of NTO, touched on the promotional activities and results achieved in the tourism sector.

Mr Damir Davidović, Seceretary General of the Ministry of sustainable Development and Tourism spoke about the strategic development of Montenegro, with particular emphasis on stimulation and promotion of investments.

Mr Miloš Jovanović, Director of the Agency for the Promotion of Foreign Investments talked about the role of diaspora in the economic development of the country.

Mr Radosav Babić, Director General of the Directorate for Investments, Development of Small and Medium Enterprises and EU funds management, presented the Program for the Improvement of Competitiveness of Montenegrin economy, whereas Mr Đuro Kažić, representative of the Investment and Development Fund, presented the models of financial assistance.
