With populist and political gestures, as those of Mr Abazović earlier today on Sinjajevina, the future government openly prevents the Army from performing its tasks and duties. The planned training and exercises would in no way harm the natural environment of this area, and that is why any action to prevent the activities of the Montenegrin Army threatens its combat readiness, thus undermining the national security and the country’s credibility within the NATO Alliance, the Democratic Party of Socialists, DPS, stated.
According to them, no government in the world prevents its army from training, except for the treacherous ones to which the armies of foreign countries are closer than their own.
“It’s in the national interest to have the Army of Montenegro trained and educated, because in this way – after all, as the defense forces of all democracies do – it defends the independence, sovereignty and territory of the state, and performs assigned missions and tasks in accordance with the Constitution and international law”, the DPS noted.
