Montenegro’s president, Mr Milo Đukanović, met with Mr Philip Reeker, Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.
President Đukanović expressed gratitude for continuous support of the USA for Montenegro and the region and highlighted the importance of continuous dialogue and partnership.
In that context, president informed Mr Rekker about current circumstances in Montenegro and stressed that the Law on Freedom of Religion reinforced freedom of religious beliefs.
“This issue has moved from the religious to political field”, Mr Đukanović said and emphasized that people’s feelings were being manipulated.
The country remains committed to defending civil and multi-ethnic values of the European Montenegro.
High official of State Department thanked Mr Đukanović for detailed information and said that it was quite obvious that the problem had become political and economic. He emphasized importance of the dialogue, flexibility and creativity.
