Montenegro’s President, Mr Milo Đukanović, welcomed in a farewell visit head of the EU Delegation, Mr Aivo Orav.
Mr Đukanović thanked Ambassador Orav for very good cooperation with Montenegrin institutions and personal contribution he has made to Montenegro’s progress in EU integration process.
“We have completed a very important phase, and now we will be focused on a very important task of intensifying the process and closing negotiating chapters”, Mr Đukanović said.
President expressed deep gratitude for EU’S help to Montenegro in countering COVID-19 pandemic.
“Financial assistance amounting to €53 million transcends all other donations”, Mr Đukanović pointed out.
Ambassador Orav expressed satisfaction with great cooperation with the president, the Government and trust established with almost all actors of Montenegro’s political life.
In that context, Mr Orav pointed out political dialogue would be even more important after the elections.
He congratulated Montenegro on opening all negotiating chapters and expressed hopes that they would all be closed very soon. He underscored EU’s promise to help the region.
Ambassador said that progress in the area of media freedom would be a very important criterion in the next Progress Report.
