Đukanović: Podgorica Assembly was treason against Montenegro

The 1918 Podgorica Assembly was a high treason against Montenegro and any celebration of it represents celebration of betrayal and downfall of Montenegro, assessed Montenegrin President, Milo Đukanović.

“It’s extremely important for the state to show persistence, determination and sharpness in an attempt to defend its greatest values,” President Đukanović said during his stay in Kolašin, to mark 75 years from the first session of the State Anti-Fascist Council for the National Liberation of Montenegro and Boka, ZAVNO, and 70 years since setting up the Alliance of Associations of the National Liberation War Veterans of Serbia, SUBNOR and Anti-fascists of Montenegro.

Đukanović also said he felt sorry to find out that some political descendants of people who organized the so-called Great National Assembly now try and seemingly manage to organize some kind of gatherings, very much resembling ghosts from the past. In this way, Đukanović added, they remind their own descendants and new generations of the treason against Montenegro.
