Đukanović: The Možura process was impeccably clean

Montenegro’s president, Mr Milo Đukanović, said during his visit to Cetinje that everything had been done impeccably in the case of Možura and that Montenegro “is clean”. He pointed out that the opposition, part of NGO sector and some media were trying to undermine president’s authority.

“I believe these stories come as no surprise. It’s pre-election period, it’s become part of traditional political life in Montenegro. Aware of their deficit powers, our political competition is trying to damage DPS and me by making up affairs”, president said.

He says that Montenegro has testified to many such affairs.

“There’s nothing new there, this is just one of the affairs from that repertoire. That’s the triangle of destruction- opposition, NGO sector and part of the media – working together to destroy the authority of the president”, Mr Đukanović said.

Ministry of Economy has already presented relevant facts, Mr Đukanović adds.

“At one time during that period, I served as president of the Government and I am familiar with all facts. I didn’t feel obliged to react because I know what’s behind it – media-spun destruction”, president said.

Mr Đukanović is loud and clear – the whole process was impeccably clean.

“The first concessionaire was selected lawfully. The problem was that the concessionaire wasn’t able to realize the investment within the established deadline. The company from Spain wanted to either get a new partner or to sell its concession rights, in accordance with regulations. The state took part in the decision making process”, Mr Đukanović said.

Our condition was that the partner could be changed provided that it had the same reputation as previously chosen concessionaire. Luckily, we got “Enemalta”.

“After careful consideration of their offer, we reached an agreement which stipulated 60-day deadline until the change of facts in the register. It was like that. “Enemalta” took over concession rights and it all resulted in the fulfilled investment. Today we have got a new production energy subject in Montenegro. It’s true that the annual subsidy on the electricity price amounts to €5 million. After 12 years it brings €60 million and after that it needs to be reconstructed and handed to Montenegro. The calculation is clear – country has nothing to lose. Our only partner in the process was their state company. What did they do, if anything, and does it make any sense, that’s the case for their state authorities and investigative journalists. We want to provide all the data but we can’t if we don’t have it or if we don’t know what was going on without us knowing about it. No individual from Montenegro can assume responsibility”, president said.

Mr Đukanović paid a visit to the Municipality of Cetinje. He went to “Danilo I” hospital and University complex.

President expressed deep respect for the rich tradition and congratulated on the results achieved during the period of crisis.

“This way we demonstrate strength of the entire Montenegrin healthcare system”, Mr Đukanović said.

Director of the hospital in Cetinje, Ms Sonja Radojičić, said she believed the situation would be under control in the second and stronger strain of coronavirus.

President expressed his satisfaction with the completion of the construction of the new building of the Faculty of Arts.
