Đukanović to Kurti: We wish our countries well, but it won’t happen to us if we don’t wish the same for our neighbors

We wish our peoples and countries well, but it cannot come to us if we don’t wish the same for our neighbors, Montenegro’s president, Mr Milo Đukanović, said in a telephone conversation with Kosovo’s incumbent prime minister, Mr Albin Kurti. President Đukanović stressed that Montenegro has been carefully monitoring the situation in Kosovo and the region as a whole, and expressed hope that the conditions for the continuation and intensifying of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue would be created soon.

“In that sense, the President welcomed the decision of the Government of Kosovo on the abolition of taxes, as an encouraging step towards the restoration of trust, and expressed hope for speedy finding of a quality and long-term sustainable solution that will contribute to the regional stability and prosperity in the common goal – EU integration,“ Mr Đukanović’s office said in a statement.

Mr Kurti confirmed their commitment to the principled and well-prepared continuation of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, emphasizing that problems do exist, but progress can be made with joint work and cooperation.

Both sides assessed that dialogue based on the values of multi-ethnic democracy is crucial and its successful outcome would represent a breaking point for restoring trust and stability of the region.
