Đukanović: We always want and expect more from Serbia-Montenegro relations

Montenegro’s president, Mr Milo Đukanović, welcomed ambassador of Serbia, Mr Zoran Bingulac, in a farewell visit. Mr Đukanović thanked Mr Bingulac for the contribution he had made to the improvement of Serbia-Montenegro relations. He pointed out that we could be satisfied with what had been done for the past six years.

“We always want and expect more when it comes to Serbia-Montenegro relations”, said Mr Đukanović.

Dose of realism that has become characteristic of Serbia-Montenegro relations led to better mutual understanding.

“Time will allow us to build up our trust. Our relations have stabilized, we have formed a stable platform, thanks to Mr Bingulac”, said representatives of President’s Cabinet.

Ambassador Bingulac acted with best intentions, he demonstrated diplomatic sensibility and understanding of circumstances. Mr Đukanović thanked him for that.

“I believe we are going to improve ties. It’s high time our states found their place in the path they have chosen. We should keep adopting European system of values in order to become EU members”, said Montenegro’s president.

Mr Bingulac expressed his gratitude for the reception and emphasized that he was part of Montenegrin climate. He highlighted his great admiration and respect for Montenegro and its strategic goals. He thanked Mr Đukanović for full cooperation and openness of Montenegrin officials.

“We have made significant progress in our cooperation. My mandate in Montenegro was a great diplomatic challenge”, said Mr Bingulac.
