Duško Knežević sold his house in Dedinje for €3.000.000

Duško Knežević

Businessman Duško Knežević, who is on the run, has been maintaining business ties with the Republic of Iran while defying UN Security Council sanctions. In 2012, in a private business transaction he sold his house in Dedinje to the representatives of Iranian state.

Luxurious villa, with the surface area of 380 square meters, was sold via Devox real estate agency for the amount of €3.000.000. There’s the Embassy of Iran at that location today.

This transaction with Iran didn’t draw attention at the time and it looked like ordinary real estate purchasing operation. However, it is quite interesting that the business was carried out amid the so called fourth circle of international sanctions against Iran.

On 9 June, UN Security Council adopted resolution 1929 which confirms that Iran defied tasks determined by previous resolutions and that new sanctions shall be imposed against this state. The Council recommended that Iran stop enriching uranium and start cooperating with IAEA inspectors.

At the same time, all international financial institutions were warned about consequences in case Iranian money is put into circulation via intermediary accounts.

As it usually happens, blockage of Iranian money flows was a challenge for those who were ready to take great risk and generate huge profits.

According to some foreign sources, Knežević offered banking and other services to some Iranian companies and institutions through certain Balkan lobbyists…

Such allegations have never been proved. International investigators have been analyzing and checking stock exchange and other financial activities undertaken Duško Knežević. Many irregularities have already been identified.
