EPCG might increase elecricity price in 2019

The Electric Power Company of Montenegro, EPCG, hasn’t used its legal right and required increase in prices of its services from 1 January, which would lead to a 3% increase in the electricity price. However, the company can ask for a 6% increase in prices of its services during 2019, Branislav Prelević, the president of the Board of Directors of the Energy Regulatory Agency, RAE, told Dan daily.

He explained: “Being a supplier, the EPCG has the right to use a 6% increase whenever it wants during 2019, but it must not exceed a 6% limitation compared to the 2018 price. Changes in price must come at least 15 days before the date of its application.”

Prelević also stressed that the main goal of the energy sector reform, which started with the adoption of the 2003 Energy Law and establishing RAE in January 2004, is to further develop the electricity market in Montenegro and merge it with the single market of the European Union (EU).
