Eraković warns: Virus is spreading faster than in the previous epidemic wave

Director f the Clinical Center of MNE, Dr Jevto Eraković, that 39 COVID-19 patients had been admitted to hospital.

“There are 14 patients in the Clinical Center. Two of them are in critical condition. Seven patients are in Bar hospital. There are 18 patients in Berane, 2 of who are in critical condition. This data should be a warning. Compared with the same day in the previous wave of infection, number of patients is much higher now and transmission is faster”, Dr Eraković says.

He pointed out that healthcare system is fully prepared.

Borders with Serbia to be open when conditions allow

Director of the Institute for Public Health, Dr Boban Mugoša, warned that measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus “must be obeyed”.
“Persons in self-isolation must stay in isolation. We have provided so many recommendations, instructions, orders. If we adhere to that, out response to the infection will be effective. We are opening in line with European standards. Some European countries did not open to us and that’s fine, they can do whatever they think is correct. I was asked why we haven’t opened borders to Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The answer is clear- every country makes assessment of the capacities, system, number of tourists that are allowed to come from every individual country”, Dr Mugoša said.

Flow of infection

Dr Mugoša said that infection was happening.

“The fact is that coronavirus has epidemic flow. The possibility to proclaim epidemic exists, but the epidemic flow states that it doesn’t have to be emphasized”, Dr Mugoša says.

Epidemic bomb

Dr Mugoša reminded that events that carried great epidemic risk had been banned.

“Due to events that represented an epidemic bomb, we had to take such measures”, Dr Mugoša says.

For now, sporting events won’t be banned.

Tourist-tracking software

Dr Mugoša reminded they had prepared set of measures for tourists who come to visit Montenegro.

“Software to which a tourist will be connected will allow us to track them when they arrive in our country”, Dr Mugoša pointed out.

Adequate protection for everybody

Dr Eraković, Director of the Clinical Center, said that every guest would be provided with adequate protection.

“Our system is ready. Everybody will be protected”, Dr Eraković says.

Health comes first; no lockdown

Talking about measures, Dr Mugoša said that health comes first.

“We have two forms of risk – contagious disease and poverty. Lockdown we had earlier can’t be applied anywhere. Under present circumstances, we apply measures which are effective and well-planned and will produce results only if we adhere to them”, Dr Mugoša pointed out.
