EU enlargement has strategic importance

Montenegro is experiencing continuous progress and is constantly strengthening inter-parliamentary dialogue with both the European Parliament and Member States, said president of the Parliament, Mr Ivan Brajović.

Mr Brajović took part in the meeting of heads and representatives of political groups in the EP. It was an excellent opportunity for discussion about the individual status and achievements of the WB countries in the integration process.

Participants confirmed that enlargement had strategic importance.

The meeting with the members of Working group for the Western Balkans, presided over by Mr Tonino Picula, discussed modalities of EP support for the WB, as well as policies relevant to interparliamentary cooperation.

“These meetings are an example of strengthening parliamentary diplomacy that is supposed to accelerate not so dynamic process”, said the chair of the body.

Mr Brajović emphasized that Montenegro was experiencing continuous progress and was constantly strengthening interparliamentary dialogue with the EP and Member States.

In his address, he pointed out that in 2020, European perspective of WB would be more clearly defined.

“Support for Montenegro, as the most successful state in the negotiation process, will be a strong, positive signal to other states in the region”, said Mr Brajović.
