A total of 484 clients and guarantors addressed to banking ombudsman last year, by 6% less than in 2018, which practically means that there are fewer and fewer objections and that banking products and procedures are more and more transparent.

According to the 2019 report, banks address settlement of objections in an updated and very professional manner, dedicating more attention to their clients’ rights.

In 2019, number of objections amounted to only 24. All of them were successfully terminated.

The majority of clients’ objections refer to loans as banking product.

“Objections refer mostly to the collateral, as a form of securing the loan. There are also objections that refer to accounts and deposits”, the Report states.

Legal entities also addressed the banking ombudsman in 2019 and referred mostly to mortgage loans.

“Objections of guarantors refer to the fact that banks request repayment of loans from them, not from the clients”, the Report states.

Smaller amount of objections referred to the conclusion on smaller number of the violation of clients’ rights. However, great deal of calls were reasoned by bankruptcy of Knežević’s banks.

“Depositors in those banks wanted ombudsman’s view on how they can manage their deposits in bankruptcy circumstances”, the Report reads.
