Floods still threaten Montenegro; Cetinje labeled ‘critical’

Heavy rainfall over the past few days has left many areas in Montenegro flooded. Threatening flooding continues today in Vranjina, Virpazar, Donji Murići, Rijeka Crnojevića, Karuč, Dodoši and Žabljak Crnojevića.

Many houses and other facilities in these places are flooded. Residents hope scenario they saw in 2010 won’t repeat this year.

Two days ago, the Protection and Rescue Service warned citizens of Montenegro of relentless rain, announcing heavy rainfall from Monday to Friday. The Hydrometeorological Office told CdM we may expect heavy rainfall in the next four days, especially in southern and central Montenegro. Snow could follow harsh temperature drop in the north of Montenegro.

The orange weather alert is in place as of today.
