Gegaj: Albanian parties consider Montenegro their home

Gegaj

Member of the Main Board of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), Mr Nikola Gegaj, said that it was good that Albanian political parties, unlike some other parties, “consider Montenegro their own home”.

“DPS won’t intervene in the decision of the minority parties concerning parliamentary elections. In the political life, coalitions are created when there are political interests”, said Mr Gegaj, commenting on the announcements of the united election performance.

He said that DPS was ready to accept all requests of minority parties that were in accordance with the highest European and democratic standards.

Albanian politicians praised adoption of the law on national symbols and amendments to the law on public order and peace which stipulate that there display of national symbols won’t be sanctioned any more.

Mr Gegaj says that the law is a high-quality democratic solution.

“It stipulates total freedom in the use of national symbols. Montenegro has once again shown that it is committed to building society of equals and improving the rights of minority nations. In addition, one of Montenegro’s basic goals is full integration of minority nations and preservation of their national specificity and protection of their rights. Montenegro is home to all nations and confessions, and multi-ethnic harmony and tolerance is the utmost value that we must all cherish”, said Mr Gegaj.
