German businessmen to invest more in Montenegro

Montenegro and Germany have dynamic bilateral relations at all levels. Additional efforts should be put in strengthening economic cooperation through increased investments of German businessmen, it was stated in the meeting between president of the Government of Montenegro, Mr Duško Marković and deputy president of CDU/CSU caucus in Bundestag, Ms Katja Leikert.

As representatives of the Government said, Mr Marković highlighted the economic recovery of the country, reflected in high growth rates, reduction in deficit and excellent budget filling.

“Results we achieved have surpassed our expectations. Our budget is stable, public revenues are beyond the projected. We are tackling grey economy as efficiently as we can”, said Mr Marković.

PM is particularly satisfied with great tourist season, as well as with results achieved in agriculture and energy sector.

Montenegro has focused on renewable energy resources as it is an area which offers German investors great possibilities. Government has put special emphasis on strengthening overall infrastructure which is a key prerequisite for dynamic and sustainable development.

Ms Leikert and Mr Marković also discussed the progress in European integration process, freedom of media an successes in the fight against corruption and organized crime.

“We have demonstrated strength and sustainability of institutional activities in combating organized crime and corruption”, said Mr Marković.

PM thanked German government and federal police for their assistance in strengthening institutional potential of Montenegro.
