Information that European Commissionaire for Enlargement, Mr Olivér Várhelyi, has been offered an option of delaying implementation of the Law on Freedom of Religion is not true, CdM finds out.

Government officially commented on the information saying that Prime Minister, Mr Duško Marković, already said everything at the press conference.

Some media reported today that Mr Várhelyi said that the PM told him that the Government was ready to delay the implementation of the new Law. However, Mr Marković said everything he had to say regarding the matter, and there was no mention of the delay.

Mr Marković said the Law “was adopted in accordance with the Montenegrin sovereign right to regulate this area in compliance with the best international standards and practice”.

Mr Várhelyi said that it was problem that national legislation should deal with.
