Government increases education funding

Government of Montenegro has earmarked €169.346.073,80 for the education  department, which is by €14.572.676,98 more than in 2019.

Most funds have been earmarked for the elementary education (€83.684.473.37). Around €39.649.531 04 will be earmarked for secondary education, and €23.948.355,57 will be used for  preschool education. Budget envisaged €559.197,49 for high education.

Implementation of the Pupils’ and Students’ standard also requires considerable funds (€10.034.127,80) . Around €1.043.007,43 will be earmarked for the Institute for class books and teaching tools and another €7.500.000 for the program of professional training.

Around €780.000 will be earmarked for the Fund for the quality and talents. Fund for dual education will receive €100.001.

Minister of Education, Mr Damir Šehović, has announced the formation of the fund, which will become operational in 2020. According to him, funds will be used for awarding best students and instructors, bonuses and grants for the employers, bonuses for the employers who provided students with jobs after they finished studies, grants for instructors of practical education etc.

Mr Šehović also announced construction of four schools, reconstruction of three kindergartens and provision of school equipment. Apart from investment in infrastructure, he also announced increase in housing funds for the education staff and rise in salaries for the education sector.
