Government revenue collected from fuel excise totals more than €100 million

For eight months this year, Montenegro has received  €100,53 million from the excise on fuel, said the representatives of the Ministry of Finance.

Excise on eurodiesel, which costs €1,21, amounts to €0,44.

Country collects €0,55 from the excise on Eurosuper 95 and 98.

“From 1 January to 31 August, profit made on the grounds of excise on fuel totaled €100.535.984”, said the representatives of the Ministry.

According to the Government’s program, the Law on excise is going to be amended in the fourth quarter of 2019.

Latest amendments were made two years ago.

“By means of those amendments, excise on leaded and unleaded gasoline, as well as on gas oils, has been increased. As far as the excise on mineral oil, the ministry will carefully consider the decision on the increase of excise, taking into account the priorities of economic and fiscal policy”, said the representatives of the Ministry.

They say that the present excise is completely harmonized with the minimum amounts defined by the Directive of the Council of the EU restructuring the Community framework for the taxation of energy products and electricity.

Liter of eurosuper currently costs €1,29 in Montenegro, €1,33 in Croatia, €1,45 in Albania. Eurosuper 95 is the cheapest in North Macedonia and most expensive in the Netherlands (€1,63).

Eurodiesel costs €1,21 in Montenegro. It’s the cheapest in North Macedonia (€0,99). This type of fuel is the most expensive in Sweden (€1,51).
