Govt and CBCG to continue cooperation with IMF

CBCG

According to representatives of the Montenegrin govt and Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG), these institutions plan to continue their cooperation with the International Monetary Fund, IMF, and the World Bank due to a continuous need for further developments, strengthening sustainability and reforms in the process of fiscal consolidation.

Montenegrin delegation, consisting of finance minister Darko Radunović and the CBCG’s governor, Radoje Žugić, met with representatives of the international organizations on the first day of annual meetings of IMF and World Bank in Washington.

Another reason for continued cooperation between these institutions is the need for implementation of international standards and good practices.

The international institutions recognized and mentioned Montenegro’s achievements in the process of fiscal consolidation and improvement of financial system, particularly reflecting on the country’s success in Euro-bond issuance on favourable terms. “Montenegro recorded an impressive growth rate of 4.4% GDP during 2017,” a statement suggests.

Judging by the meeting conclusions, Montenegro can only brag about achieved results as its financial system records positive trends in the first two months of 2018 as well.
