Govt helped over 3,000 citizens through ‘1,000 plus’ project

So far, 1,185 families, that is, 3,046 citizens have solved their housing issue thanks to the government’s project ‘1,000 plus’ first launched in 2010. The figures clearly suggest that the primary estimation of 1,000 flats that were supposed to be offered to citizens under favorable conditions was exceeded. Mr Marko Čanović of the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism, MORiT, tells Dnevne Novine daily that these figures best illustrate the success of this whole project.

He explains that the ‘1,000 plus’ project was designed so that the govt could enable the citizens without solved housing issue to buy an apartment under favorable conditions, i.e. citizens could get loans with somewhat lower interest rates.

“By launching this project, the government has created such conditions and parameters so that its beneficiaries can be middle and lower-income earners. This primarily refers to teachers, civil servants, medical staff, workers and young families, as well as the priority group of people including single parents, persons with development disabilities, families with persons with disabilities, households with children with disabilities, the young who were children without parental care and victims of domestic violence,”Mr Čanović stated.

He reminded of the first phase of the project, implemented during 2010 and 2011.

When it comes to the third phase that is still underway, he said that 1,054 people have applied so far.

According to him, no problem has ever occurred during the implementation of the project.
