Greece strongly supports Montenegro’s EU integration

Montenegro and the Republic of Greece agree that EU enlargement is one of the most important European policies that contributes to the progress of all member states and enables higher degree of safety of the South-East Europe, it was concluded at the meeting between Montenegro’s prime minister, Mr Duško Marković, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Mr Nikos Dendias.

“The objective of the enlargement policy is safer and more prosperous Europe. We firmly believe that the new European Commission will give priority to the essence, not the form. For us, EU is the only choice”, said Mr Marković.

Minister Dendias said that WB integration was one of Greek foreign policy priorities. He added that Greece would continue to support that policy.

PM thanked Greece for the support and said that Montenegro had proven to be a responsible NATO ally.

Mr Marković acquainted his guest with internal and foreign priorities of his Government and said that decision to focus on the economic policy had resulted in great development policies, reduction in unemployment, increase in budget revenues and high FDI inflow.

Both sides stated that bilateral relations between the two states were stable and likely to be further improved, especially in the area of tourism, transport and education.
