Health Minister again announced 150.000 doses of Chinese and 50.000 doses of Russian vaccines against Covid-19

Ministarka zdravlja Jelena Borovinić Bojović

Health Minister, Ms Jelena Borovinić Bojović, stated earlier today that Montenegro would get 150.000 doses of a Chinese vaccine against Covid-19 and 50.000 doses of a Russian one, but failed to give the specific date. According to her, first doses may be expected in late January or early February.

Asked why they refused the donation of Mr Petros Stathis, Minister Borovinić Bojović reiterated that the procurement of vaccines was realized through direct bilateral relations with manufacturers, that is, countries that produced the Covid-19 vaccines.

“Any other kind of vaccine procurement or donation or any other kind of getting a vaccine requires additional checks, i.e. utmost caution,” she claimed.

A pre-contract agreement has already been signed with the Chinese, she noted.

“We signed the pre-contract agreement with a Chinese manufacturer and it was agreed that Montenegro would get 150.000 doses of the Sinopharm vaccine.”

In addition, the bilateral agreement with the Russians was signed as well, and their vaccine will come to the Montenegrin market – 50.000 doses of it – in the first quarter of the year.

As for the contract with Pfizer, it’s entering its final stages, as the procedure includes several equally important phases.

The Minister also reiterated that in December last year she told she would do her best to launch the vaccination drive against the coronavirus in Montenegro in the end of January or early February.
