Final deadline for the completion of the first section of the Bar-Boljare motorway is 30 September and it’s not certain whether the technical inspection and the use permit will be ensured by then, said Minister of Transport and Maritime Affairs, Mr Osman Nurković.

Speaking about the most significant infrastructure project – the Bar-Boljare motorway – Minister Nurković emphasized that the largest part of works has been completed.

“Now we are about to finish asphalting and all electrical and mechanical installations. The final deadline is 30 September. The quality of performed works has been good. Works are underway on the Smokovac lane. Bemax is a renowned company and will finish the work on time,” he said to the press during the working breakfast.

On the question if the motorway will be open to traffic even without the use permit, Minister Nurković was adamant: “I cannot say the motorway will be open to traffic without the use permit. It’s too risky.”

As for the construction of the second motorway section, he stressed that the Ministry has already submitted the application to the European Commission for 20 per cent of the estimated contract value.

“I believe we will be able to find a partner for the second motorway section by the end of the year. We are cooperating with Serbia as it’s important to work on both sides due to the connection.”

When it comes to the toll tax on the motorway, it will most likely cost 4 euro.

“It will most likely range from 3.5 euro to 4 euro,” noted the Minister.
