Janjušević: The police will protect LGBTI people from violence

Nikola Janjušević

The police protect the rights of all citizens, preserving the democratic values of Montenegro, and act with a special sensibility when it comes to the vulnerable categories, including the LGBTI community. All citizens are guaranteed equal rights and freedoms and every form of discrimination is absolutely unacceptable, said Assistant Director of Montenegro’s National Police, Nikola Janjušević, at the opening ceremony of the training “Initiation of activities towards solving hate crimes by law-enforcement bodies”.

Cooperation between the police and the LGBTI community, which they have carefully developed and invested in over the past period, has contributed to the improvement of security and respect for human rights of LGBTI people.

“The Montenegrin police and the LGBTI community have been cooperating for over a decade,“ he underlined.

Mr Janjušević also added that during public and media performances, the police continually support the LGBTI community in exercising their rights in a democratic and dignified manner, noting that the police are there for them and that they will do everything in their power to keep LGBTI people safe and protected.
