We are going to commit to promoting Montenegro in foreign production companies, said actors Stefan Kapičić and Gabriel Garko in the Ministry of Culture today, during the first session of the Film Industry Council presided over by Minister Aleksandar Bogdanović.
President of the Film Center of Montenegro, Mr Sead Čekić, and president of the Association of Film Producers and Directors of Montenegro, Mr Ivan Marinović, also attended the session which was dedicated to many issues in the field of cinematography.
“Members of the Council emphasized the importance of the recent Montenegro’s “Eurimages” membership”, said the representatives of the Ministry.
Mr Bogdanović informed the members about the fact that Ministry of Culture endorsed the project of VR Montenegro Articulation production company. The project will significantly contribute to the promotion of Montenegro as film destination.
“Members of the Council pointed out that the fact that Montenegro produces more films is encouraging, although “it is necessary to devote more effort in order to fully realize its potentials”, added the representatives of the Ministry.
It is necessary to stimulate film makers and introduce legislative framework which would define conditions under which foreign directors could make movies and similar formats at Montenegrin locations.
“One of the things discussed was related to the possibilities for young film industry employees in Montenegro to improve. It was stated that initial measures have already been taken”, said the representatives of the Ministry.
Development of Montenegrin cinematography requires a lot of work and everybody should take part in that process.
“We have already taken some huge steps forward with the aim of achieving goals we had established – strengthening Montenegrin film industry, more active engagement in co-production and making Montenegro more visible as film destination”, said the representatives of the Ministry.
The Council spoke about diligent work of the Film center, recent “Eurimages” membership and some good ideas supported by the Ministry.
“Members of the Council took interest in the promotion of Montenegrin production and enhancement of film infrastructure”, pointed out Minister.
