Mr Zdravko Krivokapić, prime minister-designate, clearly states in the exposition that economic citizenship program will not remain in force. On the contrary, he announced its abolition and explained it very briefly.
Speaking about economic development, Mr Krivokapić said that he would carefully crate the list of jobs in deficit and then start the pre-qualification of staff according to real needs and projections of the development of labor market.
“And we want to change the existing economic citizenship program into a program of citizenship for highly-qualified staff”, Mr Krvokapić says.
What does that really mean, it still remains unknown.
Owing to Mr Krivokapić’s experiment, the country might lose almost €400 million, the amount which should be invested in 14 projects across the country.
In less than two years, Government of Mr Duško Marković added 14 projects on the list of development projects that are candidates for economic citizenship.
Possible abolition of this project, investors could just lose interest in investing.
Mr Krivokapić is obviously under the influence by the events on Malta and Cyprus, due to the decision of the European commission, which has announced initiation of the proceedings against these states on the grounds of the “golden passports” scheme. Cyprus has suspended the project while Malta has responded that its program will soon be abolished and replaced with new regulations on residence.
