Krivokapić congratulated Željka Cvijanović on the Day of Republika Srpska in phone call

Montenegro’s Prime Minister, Mr Zdravko Krivokapić, congratulated yesterday the President of Republika Srpska, Ms Željka Cvijanović, on the Day of Republika Srpska. Mr Krivokapić called the President, but afterwards failed to inform the public that he congratulated her on the Day of Republika Srpska. Ms Cvijanović was the one who announced it, as it seems that PM Krivokapić, wanted to conceal it from the Montenegrin public.

It may be that the Prime Minister wanted to hide it because two decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina declared the Day of Republika Srpska unconstitutional, and the Venice Commission in its opinion assessed it as “discriminatory because it fails to comply with the universal values of dialogue, tolerance and understanding”.

However, even though the PM maybe wished to keep it secret, Ms Cvijanović publicly thanked Mr Krivokapić, hoping that Republika Srpska and Montenegro would closely cooperate in all areas.

By contrast, the leaders of the New Serbian Democracy and Real Montenegro, Mr Andrija Mandić and Mr Marko Milačić, sent congratulatory messages on social media.

The Leader of the Democratic People’s Party, Mr Milan Knežević, congratulated the Day of Repubika Srpska on Twitter.
