Krivokapić: Strength of symbols lies in the emotion

Ranko Krivokapić

Strength of state symbols lies in the emotion, not in the force of the law, said President of SDP, Ranko Krivokapić, commenting on  the amendments to the Law on State symbols and Statehood Day.

The new Law stipulates that any person who fails to stand up during the hymn, will be punished by 300-2000 EUR fine.

“Strength of symbols lies in the emotion, not in the force of the law. That strength has remained dominant, it mustn’t be weakened. I was surprised with the speed these symbols got accepted by entire Montenegro. That minority that still doesn’t accept symbols is not important and should not be considered important. Their most severe punishment will be public condemnation. In our tradition, public condemnation is worse than prison sentence. Nobody can judge as severe as community, if you are against it”, said Krivokapić.

Socialist Democratic Party organized today press conference on the occasion of presenting a campaign regarding departures of young people from Montenegro as well as the proposal active development policy for the improvement of quality of life and formation of peaceful societies oriented to children and youth.

“We’ve gathered today in order to fight together the most terrible consequence of economic and social devastation – which is the problem of young people leaving this country. They are the most important part of every society, basis for reforms and future of every country”, said Krivokapić.

This problem indicates the tragedy of the problems in our society. Unfortunately, Montenegro is among three countries where the situation regarding employment is the worst.

Representative of the Youth Forum of SDP, Ivana Aničić was born in Pljevlja but. As the majority of young people, couldn’t stay there. She wishes she could have stayed.
