Lufthansa plane landed in Montenegro for the first time in history

For the first time in history, the Lufthansa plane landed at Tivat Airport today.

The representatives of the Airports of Montenegro, the Municipality of Tivat, managers of the Lufthansa Group and H.E. Ambassador of Germany to Montenegro, Mr Robert Heinrich Weber welcomed the arriving passengers and special guests.

This first flight marked the beginning of Lufthansa’s airline connection between Tivat and its main destinations in Germany. The German airline will be flying from Tivat to Munich every Saturday, while flights from Tivat to Frankfurt will start from 14 April every Sunday. Both flights will be on an Airbus A319 and passengers will be offered on-board internet.

“This first flight represents a special even in Lufthansa history. Having in mind that Montenegro represents an important market with a lot of potentials, Lufthansa decided to introduce 2 new flights and thus connect Tivat and its two main airports in Frankfurt and Munich,” said Mr. Peter Pullem, Head of Sales for Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe within the Lufthansa Group.

“Lufthansa’s arrival is not important only for the Airports of Montenegro but for Montenegro as a tourism destination as well. Flight tickets are selling fast, which tells us we were right to introduce these routes,” said Danilo Orlandić, Executive Director of the Airports of Montenegro.

There are three other companies within the Lufthansa Group that already fly from Montenegro. Brussels Airlines offers flights once a week from Tivat to Brussels, while Eurowings flies once a week from Tivat to Dusseldorf.

Austrian Airlines flies from Podgorica to Vienna every single day.
