The main works on Mamula begin at the end of April

The main works on the valorisation project of the Lastavica island with the Mamula fortress are expected to begin at the end of April. According to preliminary projections, €4.5m is to be invested there this year. The Swiss company Orascom Development is a long-term leaseholder of the island with the fortress.

In the government’s report on executed activities under the long-term lease agreement of the site in 2017, which is in the parliamentary procedure, states that the contracted obligations for the forthcoming period are €392,000 worth. They are related to the completion of the project documentation.

“A €250,000 investment is planned in the implementation of preparatory works this year,” the document says.

It is envisaged that the main works on the project will start at the end of April, which is directly related to the adjustment of views and solutions from the preliminary design with the Directorate for Protection of Cultural Property.
