This is the proof that Montenegro is capable of carrying out complex and demanding projects and dealing with challenges. The bridge is going to be finished in March, said Prime Minister, Mr Duško Marković, while making a tour of Moračica bridge, the greatest individual structure of the priority section of Bar-Boljare highway. He said that Moračica would be completed in March 2020.
PM pointed out that this bridge was the third largest bridge in Europe and among the ten largest bridges in the world.
Prime Minister visited the bridge this morning, together with Mr Osman Nurković, Minister of Transport, and CRBC management.
Chief engineer, Mr Duško Rondović, said that it took over 100.000 cubic meters of concrete, around 15.000 tonnes of iron and slightly less than 10.000 tonnes of cables to build one of the greatest structures on the highway.
Photo: CdM”The most important thing is that the span construction has been connected. We still need to do a lot until the bridge is complete: electric installation of the pipeline that goes through the span construction, asphalting, installation of windscreens… it takes time”, said Mr Rondović.
He stressed that wind during winter wouldn’t be problem for traffic.
“Four-meter high windscreens will be installed, and, hopefully, they will eliminate the problem of wind during winter”, said Mr Rondović.
Moračica bridge is the greatest individual structure of the priority highway section. It is 175 meters high, 23,4 meters wide and 960 meters long.
